The "Mega Earth"

                                    The "Mega Earth"

The "Mega Earth" is known as the planet Kepler 10-C. The planet is a massive solid planet which weighs 17 more times than earth and is about 2.3 times larger than the earth. The planet is located 560 light years from the Earth. Planets as massive as Kepler 10-C should in theory accumulate hydrogen gas and become a gas giant, but this planet is composed of heavy solids. The planet orbits a sun-like star every forty-five days. The Kepler-10 solar system was formed at least 11 billion years ago, suggesting that the heavy solids appeared much earlier than previously suggested.

My first Race

                                       My First Race

Sunday, April 13th, 2014 was my first race. The first race was an exhilarating experience. The race  in which i participated was the heart of Los Angeles 5 kilometer race. The race began at eight in the morning. That Sunday i awoke at 5:00 AM, i was rather nervous and confident. When i arrived i registered with my twin and my older brother. When i started i raced off and held the first position for a while until a 21 year old followed by my brother passed me. I sped across the course, but i slowed down and ended with the sixth position and a time of 18:53. I was the first child to finish the race so i felt proud but infuriated that i finished with such a horrible time.

An Important Personal Trait Within Life

    Student Success Statement
“Kindness is the essence of greatness.”-Joseph B. Wirthlin
What an insightful statement. Kindness is a quality within an individual which is praised by all individuals, if we are kind to others we are favored and renowned among the populace. Our kind actions define us. When we are kind we are esteemed and admired by the individuals within our communities. This admiration provides an individual with a proper reputation and a proper reputation portrays greatness; therefore, kindness prompts admiration. I am a kind person who always attempts to do what is right, i have earned a proper reputation among my peers and instructors. I truly believe that my acts of kindness represent who i am, and my intentions within my life. I attempt to help everyone on order to achieve a sense of fulfilment. As a result of my actions i know i will succeed.

Instructions Toward a Prosperous Career

Student Success Statement
“You will never be a winner if you lose your temper.”-Anonymous

What an insightful statement which allows me to evaluate my actions. The ability to control your emotions during a situation in which you must exhibit control such as an athletic event or an academic event. Your ability to control such emotions allows individuals to perceive you as a capable individual due to the fact that you do not allow your emotions to intervene within a certain situation. I am capable of controlling my emotions during a situation in which emotions can jeopardize your success, such as during a debate, i do not support my claim with irrational arguments, but rather with rational arguments. The inability to control your own temper represents a weakness which must be extinguished in order to succeed within life.

Common Running Injuries

                          Common Running Injuries

Many common running injuries occur because of a lack of stretching, over-training, lack of proper shoes, and many other actions prompt injury. According to web MD.com the most common running injuries include:
Running injuries usually happen when you push yourself too hard. The way your body moves  also play a role.
You can prevent many of them. Here's how.
1. Runner's knee. This is a common overuse injury. Runner's knee has several different causes. It often happens when your kneecap is out of alignment.
Over time, the cartilage on your kneecap can wear down. When that happens, you may feel pain around the kneecap, particularly when:
  • going up or down stairs
  • squatting
  • sitting with the knee bent for a long time
2. Stress fracture. This is a small crack in a bone that causes pain and discomfort. It typically affects runners in the shin and feet. It's often due to working too hard before your body gets used to a new activity.
Pain gets worse with activity and improves with rest. Rest is important, as continued stress on the bone can lead to more serious injury.
3. Shin splint. This is pain that happens in the front or inside of the lower leg along the shin bone (tibia). Shin splints are common after changing your workout, such as running longer distances or increasing the number of days you run, too quickly.
People with flat feet are more likely to develop shin splints.
Treatment includes:
  • rest
  • stretching exercises
  • slow return to activity after several weeks of healing
4. Achilles tendinitis. This is inflammation of the Achilles tendon. That's the large tendon that attaches the calf to the back of the heel.
Achilles tendinitis causes pain and stiffness in the area of the tendon, especially in the morning and with activity. It is usually caused by repetitive stress to the tendon. Adding too much distance to  your running routine can cause it. Tight calf muscles can also contribute.
Treatment includes:
  • rest
  • icing the area
  • calf stretches
5. Muscle pull. This is a small tear in your muscle, also called a muscle strain. It's often caused by overstretching a muscle. If you pull a muscle, you may feel a popping sensation when the muscle tears.
Treatment includes RICE: rest, ice, compression, and elevation.
Muscle pull commonly affects these muscles:
  • hamstrings
  • quadriceps
  • calf
  • groin
6. Ankle sprain. This is the accidental stretching or tearing of ligaments surrounding the ankle. It often happens when the foot twists or rolls inward.
Sprains typically get better with rest, ice, compression, and elevating the foot.
7. Plantar fasciitis. An inflammation of the plantar fascia. That's the thick band of tissue in the bottom of the foot that extends from the heel to the toes.
People with tight calf muscles and a high arch are more prone to plantar fasciitis. Although it may be linked to adding activity, plantar fasciitis can also happen without any obvious reason.

Inspirational Student Success Statement

          Student Success Statement
“The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon: self-respect, dignity, integrity, and self-esteem.”-Dr. Laura Schlessinger

What an insightful statement which allows me to perceive life through a renewed perspective. The essential message inscribed within this quote is the benefits associated with proper actions. The benefits include as presented by the quote: self-respect, dignity, integrity, and self-esteem. These phenomena can greatly affect your life. Self-respect prompts a feeling of self-worth and pride, dignity prompts respect among your peers toward you, integrity allows you to be respected by the community, and self-esteem motivates you to pursue your desired endeavors. These are all crucial characteristics, and they can only be obtained through proper actions. When I commit a proper action I can feel that I have done something meaningful and productive, therefore I am benefited by the acquisition of self-respect, dignity, integrity, and self-esteem. These aspects allow prosperity to occur.

The Importance Associated With Persistence

  Student Success Statement
“Nothing in the world can take the place of PERSISTENCE.
TALENT: will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
GENIUS: will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
EDUCATION: will not; the world is full of uneducated derelicts.
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Press On” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”- President Calvin Coolidge
What an insightful statement which allows us to understand the meaning of success. Every individual believes if you are not talented you cannot succeed, well what if you are unsuccessful and talented; talent does not assure anything, if you are talented and single-minded you will over-estimate your abilities, this over confidence will result in your failure. You failed because of your lack of persistence and determination. We must not view failure as bondage; we must view it as an opportunity which will allow us to learn from our mistakes. I once believed that if you know a vast amount of facts and can memorize entire pages you will be deemed a genius, this is a clear misconception. In order to succeed you must memorize such concepts, but you must also be able to apply what you have learned or memorized, if you are not able to do such things; then you clearly do not understand. A student who is determined to understand the concept, will memorize and learn to apply the concept, this persistence will provide him with success.

A wonderful statement which provides insight which is applicable to all areas of life.

        Student Success Statement
“Persistence can change failure into extraordinary achievement.”-Matt Biondi
What an amazing statement which provides insight into the wonders of character and the effects your personality can have upon your life.  Persistence is a truly magnificent quality within a human being, which stimulates achievement, but what is Persistence? Persistence is the quality in which an individual proceeds to challenge adversity in order to complete his or her goals. I am a person with numerous goals, who has persisted in order to achieve goals which I had set in the past. One of my goals was to run a mile in under six minutes, I trained every day, I am rather impatient, and so I wanted to improve instantly. I trained for weeks until I was able to run my mile in 5 minutes and 58 seconds. This experience also allowed me to view the importance associated with patience as well as persistence.

Professionals divide intelligence into five categories which are known as Logic, Abstract thought, understanding, self-awareness, communication, learning, emotional knowledge, retaining, planning, and problem solving. Intelligence through my perception is an aspect of my life which i greatly appreciate, i appreciate that i am able to process and interpret the world around, and i hope i am able to do so for the rest of my life.

Triathlons

                                          Triathlons

There are several aspects associated with a triathlon that intrigue me, these include the sporting events themselves. A triathlon is a competition which involves swimming, running, and bicycling. The first modern triathlon in the united states was held on September 25th, 1974 in Mission Bay, San Diego, California. The Standard triathlon distance is swimming 1.5 km or .93 miles, Bicycling 90 km or 60 miles, and running 10 km or 6.2 miles. The longest triathlon is known as the "Iron-Man triathlon." The iron-man Triathlon was first held in Hawaii on February 18, 1978. The Iron-Man triathlon involves swimming 2.4 miles, bicycling 112 miles, and running 26.219 miles. I am interested in participating within a triathlon due to the fact that the event is amazing and i am a fanatic of endurance sports.

The Global Education Gap

Is our education System Failing?

                     Is our educational System Failing?

I believe our educational system within the united states is horrible!!! From my own experiences i would love to reform our education system in order to provide students with constant work and engaging activities, and self study. We also need certified teachers who are able to individually work with several students at a time in order to develop their interests. I would love to move to Finland in order to become a student within their education system, but sadly i cannot, therefore i am restrained to my current education system. But ask yourself if we change teachers will the students be able to actually achieve? My answer is maybe. It is not a teacher's job to provide an incentive they are supposed to provide the resources. The student must be willing to learn and provide results. Our state believes we must spend financial resources in order to provide the student with an incentive, but this strategy will not work if the student is unwilling to learn.
